I currently am working as a train conductor with CPKC and was wondering if you have to start as a Customer Service Ambassador or if I can start as an operator?

Hello! You can apply for the locomotive engineer (operator) position especially if you have a current certification. You don’t need to be a customer service ambassador (conductor) first to get hired on as an operator.

If you are not currently certified as an operator then yes you must start as a conductor. And eventually over time you will be able to go through operator training.
