Great question !
It started right after high school. I joined a master program specialized in transports, but I was hesitating between railway engineering major, or aeronautical engineering major. During summer holidays, I did one internship at SNCF (French railway operator), dealing with preventive maintenance of high speed trains (TGV). It was mind blowing to realize what is happening behind the scenes, all the operation and maintenance aspects that most of the people don't realize when they take the train.
So it convinced me that working in the railway world was definitely for me.
And then, when you're studying railway in France, Alstom is the key player you want to work for, given the diversity of jobs and type of projects !
