I've applied to 2 engineering internship roles, but have yet to hear back, any tips on how to build a promising resume?
Additional information
I'm a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of British Columbia (UBC) with a year of railway experience working as a junior engineer at Hyundai Rotem, a competitor of Alstom. I've applied for the "Project Engineering Intern" and "Mechanical Engineering Intern" positions at Alstom Canada, and my resume has numerous keywords in common with the job description and ideal candidate description, but I have yet to hear back after months of waiting. Are there any tips to tailor my resume to better score an interview for these internship positions at Alstom? Thank you!

Hello ! For which locations are you applying to? I would work on a resume that highlights your skills and what transferable work experience you have instead of only focusing on just the academic. Soft skills are also important, for example: what kind of teammate are you? how do you relate to others? how do you solve problems on the job? I know we could use someone like you in my team if you were interested in using your engineering skills in a procurement job. And don't forget a cover letter that besides explaining your intent, highlights what you are bringing into the team if hired. Good luck!

Hi Tamara, thanks for the helpful response! I've applied to the Toronto and St. Bruno locations. The resume I've submitted primarily covers all the engineering work I've done at my previous engineering positions, without really mentioning what I've done academically. Although I have yet to include a cover letter. Is it okay to withdraw my application and resubmit it with a cover letter attached? Once again, thanks for the advice!

If the posting is still open yes, try withdrawing and then resubmitting with the cover letter. Also, keep in mind that we have are in hybrid mode, please mention in your cover letter that you will relocate or are located close to these offices. I wish you the best!
