Hi Jean-François. We typically hire CSAs (Customer Service Ambassadors), that have an aptitude for moving to the next level of a Conductor. We do a personality and aptitude test to assess this prior to hiring a candidate as a CSA. Eventually they move from CSA to conductor to Loco Engineer.

Sounds good. I'm a Service Manager on board at VIA Rail. I was a selected candidate for the LEAP (Locomotive Engineer Apprentice Program) in 2020 but it got canceled in Montreal when COVID started. Hopefully the program comes back. My goal is to become a train conductor and\or Loco Engineer at some point. I will keep my eyes open for openings. You never know! Thanks!
