Can you tell me what your first year was like?

I was new to the Transportation Industry when I joined, coming from the Nuclear Industry with a very traditional civil/structural background. My first year was a lot of learning about Communications-Based Train Control. Everyone was very gracious with me and did not expect me to know everything. My hiring manager was really understanding, friendly, and cognizant of my background. It seemed like every day I was hearing 10 acronyms I didn't know, but people were happy to tell me what they meant when I asked, and now I'm the one throwing acronyms around. Alstom has lots of training to help new hires, and HR can set you up with a buddy too.
